The Feldenkrais® Approach and Sports

·         would you like to explore whether - and how - you might well have even clearer strength, power and agility than you experience now, which you have not yet harnessed?

·         do you paddle, roll, or do paddling tricks more easily on one side than the other, and would you like to be more versatile in both directions? (for kayaking and canoeing)

·         does your power seem to press more – or more clearly – through one leg and foot than the other?  (e.g. for skiing, running, skating)

·         do you turn more easily in one direction than the other, and is this creating weak spots in your game? (e.g. for hockey, basketball)

·         are you recovering from an injury, or do you have a recurring injury?  Do you think you may be bracing or holding yourself stiffly as a result?  Would you like to recover the freedom of movement required for your sport?

·         does your arm swing falter or drop at some point during your swing? (e.g. for softball, golf)

·         Would you like a more comfortable back and seat when you ride your horse?

Orienteering - requiring versatile running in rough terrain

Effective movement in sports is all about smooth, clear, efficient transitions from one point in the movement to another, and the ability to adapt in a versatile way to a changing environment.

The Feldenkrais approach invites you become aware of exactly how you do what you do – and leads you to explore options which may take less effort and yet provide you with improved movement and results.  It can help you to:

  • improve your range of motion
  • develop a clearer connection through your skeleton to improve strength and power
  • improve balance, precision, and coordination
  • clear out excessive or unnecessary effort, so that you work more efficiently and with greater ease
  • improve your ability to change direction quickly and easily
  • develop smoother, faster responses

The aim is to help you be able to respond to your environment quickly, powerfully, efficiently, and ready for anything.

"... to be free to move

in any direction

at any time,

without hesitation

or preparation."
